FAQ: Who are your candidates for Governor and U.S. Senate?

Answer: The Libertarian Party of Tennessee is not fielding candidates for Governor and U.S. Senate this year. Given the current political climate, it would be very difficult for a third-party candidate to do well running for state-level offices at this time. We think we can be more effective in winning local offices first, developing candidates with a track record in their home districts, and then moving up to state-wide offices.

The following candidates for public office were formally endorsed by the LPTN in state convention on April 8th.

COUNTY:
Hamilton County
Commissioner
District 2
Joe Dumas website
31% vote total
Wilson County
Commissioner
District 22
Heather Scott
Re-Elected
2nd term
Greene County
Commissioner
District 4
Daniel Burgner

Other Libertarian candidates not formally requesting party endorsement

COUNTY:
Union County
Commissioner
District 6
Mike Sexton

Elected
1st term

Get involved in your local government meetings and make a positive influence there as a citizen. Learn the issues, and educate yourself about them. Then next election cycle, I'd like to see your name on this list!

Is there anyone out there who will be representing Blount County in Tennessee?

I am curious.

I'm new to Tennessee and reviewing my 1st general election ballot.. I ASSUME that anyone running who is NOT a REP or a DEM gets the "Independent" label.

If there ARE any Libertarians on the ballot tomorrow, I won't recognize them. What's the sense of fielding candidates if the local/state party doesn't provide web support. Bios, info by county, ect??

We are doomed. And that's from a "committed" libertarian.. Might as well just send those dues to CATO and Reason...

The above poster has a very valid and urgent point.

Why not list all candidates with affiliation - and if that has been done uptop (sad to see) - so few are affiliated, let's see mentions of candidates who lean toward the libertarian viewpoint. Information from these stifled independents is difficult to come across; let's do our jobs and find the best, most libertarian candidate in each slot.
